Chinese New Year
I know you remember Chinese New Year back in 1997. First there was
the dance in that hotel in downtown Chicago. You were going with Leon, even though
you told him that you didn't want to go out, cuz he bought you a ticket. During the dance
I became depressed cuz of some stupid girl. Anyways, I was sitting at the table by
myself and you walked up and sat next to me. You were wearing a white dress shirt and
maybe jeans and I was wearing my beige Levi denim shirt and black jeans. You started talking to me. We told each other our names, even though I
already knew yours from Will. I thought you were cute, but I didn't really try impressing
you. The last dance came one, and I was gonna ask you to dance, but Leon asked first. Plus
he was your date and my friend, so I didn't want to get in his way. I ended up dancing with
Kalley and we looked at each other on the dance floor. (I shoulda made Leon dance with his
sister) But you came up to me as me and Mark and Will were leaving. You asked me why I
didn't ask you to dance. I told you about the reason with Leon. And you said to me, "I wanted
you to ask me to dance." Then you left. I felt really happy after that. No one has ever
done anything like that with me before. You are just always so direct. I thought about
you all through the car ride home.
Then comes a week later and it's the party for Chinese school. You wore either a pink
or yellow polo shirt that night. I was wearing a blue t-shirt and black jeans. I didn't get dressed
up cuz I wasn't planning on staying and I didn't know that you'd be there. I didn't even do my hair.
We talked for a little bit at the entrance to the stage. I remember being very nervous and kinda uncomfortable.
I didn't really know what to say to you. Then Emily comes along and keeps holding my hand and walking around with me.
I hated that girl..but part of me wanted you to feel kinda jealous..just so that you knew that
there were other girls that liked me. :) Very "38". So you were behind me and Kalley and Emily
in the line to get food. And I tried talking to them and laughing so that you'd notice me. We all
sat at the same table, but I didn't really talk to you. And you were pretty much quiet and to yourself.
My name got called up cuz I won some stupid prize. As every one was leaving, you said, "Jim, can I talk to you?" and took me
into the hallway. I was very excited cuz I knew that you were going to say something about liking me. And you told
me that you liked me, but knew that I didn't like you, but you wanted to tell me cuz life is short.
I was just so shocked. I acted like I didn't care, but deep down I was so happy. I wanted to kiss you, but I was too shy.
But I got enough courage to give you a big hug. And I gave you my number to call me. I kept
asking if you'd memorize it cuz I was afraid that you would forget. When you left, I helped my mom clean up.
But all I could think about was you and getting home to get your call. I was afraid you wouldn't call but you did. Turns out
you called Will first. Then I had to lie to Will when he called me. I didn't really care about hurting Will cuz I liked
you so much. We ended up talking a lot and you invited me over to your house...which was very surprising. Then again, you always
were very direct.
Stratford Square Mall
We drove to Stratford cuz we got bored of going to Woodfield and I wanted to look
at different clothes. Every where we went, you made me buy stuff that was on sale. (You know, when I went shopping with Michelle,
she always wanted me to buy the expensive stuff. And I'd always think that you would never let me waste money like that cuz you didn't care
about that stuff) Anyways, we ended up having a lot of fun, even though it was just shopping. It was very memorable, probably cuz of all the
time that we got to spend together...holding each other's hands the whole day, getting food, looking at clothes for me. You even bought me a shirt
cuz I ripped my Above the Rim t-shirt on your belt with the pointy star. Your mom, brother, and sister came to visit one week. And your brother asked
if I could lift you up. So I lifted you, since you don't weigh enough. But then your belt caught onto my shirt as I put you down....and you just said you'd
buy me a new shirt, even though you didn't have to. We got it at that new Gadzooks store. Then on the way home, you "went down on me" in the car. That was
very surprising...and kinda dangerous. I'm still not sure why you all of a sudden decided to do that...but it was very interesting. :)
Summer School
You took World Geography at Schaumburg for summer school. And every day I would go and pick you up by the drivers' ed buses. Then we'd go back
to your house and...do stuff :) I also helped you do homework a couple of times, both because I wanted to look good in front of your aunt and cuz I wanted you to get
done so that we could spend more time together. That girl, I don't remember her name, was also in your class. We went to the mall with her a couple of times. I brought
along Jason once, but he was too quiet and didn't even talk to her. We met Dennis and he ended up liking her. That girl asked for my phone number, and you even let her.
But I wasn't interested...cuz I had my huney.
